NORMAN TSUI

(from Wing Chun DVD's introduction)

Upon graduating from acting seminars at Hong Kong's second largest television station ATV in the late 1970's, Norman Tsui Siu-Keung became a sex symbol overnight with his first starring role for the station's martial arts TV series "Metamorphosis of the Heavenly Silkworm." His cool appearance, raspy voice, and a pair of ice-cold eyes, quickly made Norman ATV's No.1 star.

His fame also led him to collaborations with the "New Wave" directors like Tsui Hark, Patrick Tam, and Ching Siu-Tung on their first feature films.

Thanks to his distinctive features, Norman offten excelled in playing the cool, reticent swordsman as DUEL TO THE DEATH, GOLDON SWALLOW, and WHAT PRICE SURVIVAL. He was also the perfect role choice for triad bosses and villains, as indicated by his fine performances in TIGER ON BEAT, CITY WAR, KING OF BEGGARS, and WING CHUN. Like many Hong Kong actors/actresses who flourished in films in the 1970's and 80's, Norman is now primarily working in television series produced in Southwest Asia by the station that rocketed him to stardom, ATV.

Birth: unknown.

Filmography: He has been appeared on many Hong-Kong action movies since 70's.

His acting is very Cool! Especially, his act of Samurai is Perfect! Of course He isn't a Japanese, is a Chinese. In spite of it, he had been able to understand traditional Japanese-samurai spirits, and performed Samurai very much on "Duel to the Death" the movie.

A Japanese samurai is first and most foremost a warrior, one who lives and dies by his sword(Katana). The prime duty in his life is serve and obey his lord in all things. Bushido(the code of the samurai) is hard and unrelenting. A samurai must be willing to accept his own death at any moment. There can be no failure for a samrai: when serving his lord, for his only choices are to succeed or die in the attempt. If the samurai accepts these choices, he cannot fail since death is not failure; it is the ultimate service a samrai can render to his lord.
